Rotary supporting the Town Council Africa Educational Trust

Lymington Rotary are pleased to support the Lymington & Pennington Town Council in their celebrations of HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the passing of the Olympic Torch through our town

With the help of local schools in the Lymington Pennington area we have collected over 2000 books in support of the Africa Educational Trust who use them to set up libraries in schools in Uganda.

New Forest Gateway Donation Crocus February 2012
A cheque for £400 to New Forest Gateway Club (Mencap) to help fund equipment that will enable them to create a digital archive of their 25 year history since their formation. A similar sum will be awarded to Brockenhurst Gateway Club to make a total of £800 to Mencap in the Forest. (February)

The crocus bulbs outside St Thomas’s Church, Lymington in the early Spring sunshine when displaying their natural majesty for all onlookers to enjoy. The display was planted last year by Lymington Rotarians to focus attention on Rotary International’s drive to rid the world of polio. The purple flower symbolises the dye which is painted on the little children when they have been immunised. (February)

Megan Thurston of Priestlands School represented the Rotary Club of Lymington last Saturday at the Rotary District Final of Young Chef atFerndown Upper School. Her menu was: Spinach and Feta cheese in filo triangles followed by Chicken stack with melted cheese and mediterranean vegetables and for dessert: Chocolate and Raspberry (February) President Larry and Jessica Colefield-Openshaw exchanging banners at Club lunch. Jessica is an Ambassadorial Scholar sponsored by the RC of Petal, Mississippi to study for year as a post graduate at Winchester University (March)

Scout Leader Ross Croucher wrote to Lymington Rotary Club requesting some financial assistance. Club President, Larry Anthony, praised Ross for his initiative and also the entire Scout Troop for their contribution to the community, and at a recent Scout meeting he presented the troop with a cheque for £200.
